I watched Hugo this weekend –
a heartwarming story about a boy (Asa Butterfield) who becomes an orphan
and finds a father in a broken old man (Ben Kinsley); but first he has
to fix him. Am I talking about the boy or the father? You will
need to watch Hugo for yourself to find out. But I will tell you that his trail
is fraught with danger on every side from constables to child services.
The triumph of the story resides in a lost dream that is recovered because a
boy, who has been forced to resort to stealing to survive, risks his freedom to
return an automaton to its rightful owner. (Deuteronomy 22:3) Hallelujah!
